said Tuesday it acquired Gunner, a design and animation studio based in Detroit.
The company said it has worked with Gunner since 2020, adding the studio produces art and animations “that show up in Duolingo’s flagship language app and early childhood literacy app, Duolingo ABC.” The acquisition will add fifteen designers, illustrators, and animators to Duolingo’s existing design teams, the company said.
Duolingo said it uses animation to drive engagement, keep learners motivated, and build its brand.
